The redirections are essential in the management of any website.

For whatever reason, at some point in your life as a web page manager you will need to do a redirect to force a URL (which previously pointed to a specific content that no longer exists) to Dentist Email List redirect to other content that does exist today. on your web page.

Otherwise, the server will show you a 404 error , which will hurt your positioning in search engines such as Google.

In most cases, it is possible to change your domain and you need to have all the URLs of your previous web redirect to their corresponding sections in the new domain.

However, there are many other cases in which you might need redirects, such as the following:

  • We modify the URLs of our website to make them more SEO friendly.
  • We removed some pages from our site and, therefore, the URLs of those pages would give us error 404.
  • We removed several images from our site, which were incorporated into the WordPress template that we installed at the time and that, now, simply slow down the web.

Whatever your case may be, we know that it is very difficult to introduce each redirection one by one. We tell you because we have lived it …

The luck we have is that the WordPress plugins work magic and can make our work much easier.

Below we will detail how to make massive redirects so that you reduce your time of dedication considerably. You’ll see how easy it is😉

HOW TO MAKE MASSIVE REDIRECTS WITH WORDPRESS?

With the Redirection plugin , developed by John Godley. It has more than 700,000 installations, so it fully fulfills its functions.

To do a massive redirect, first of all you must install the plugin. To do this, simply go to the plugins section of your WordPress, search for it and install it.

Before getting started with the redirects, you must prepare an excel document with CSV format .

We recommend that you go to Google Drive and create, from there, a spreadsheet. After finishing your redirects document, you only have to select File ->  Download as and select the option Separated values by commas (.csv).

Once you are on the spreadsheet, in column A of Excel you will have to put all the URLs that do not point anywhere (one per box), while in column B you will have to add the URL you want to redirect them to .

In our digital marketing agency we made several redirections because we eliminated the images that were pre-installed in our template, so we can give you an example:

When you have your spreadsheet ready, download the file. The next step will be to upload it to the Redirection plugin.

To do this, enter the plugin and, among the options that you have at the top, select ” Options “, between 404s and Support .

There you will find the Import section Upload your .csv file and click on “upload”. In a jiffy you will have all the redirections done.

Easy truth?

Remember that not implementing redirects 301 to 404 errors on your web page penalizes SEO, so you will lose visibility on the Internet.
